Giving training to your own employees or customers is not straightforward these days. The measures prevent gathering in groups but we still want to provide the necessary and sometimes obligatory training. Setting up an e-learning offers a high-quality solution.
Setting up e-learning simply and quickly with PowerPoint
- an online training (e-learning) that is designed in PowerPoint
- adding questions to the training that check whether the participants have understood and remembered the information
- ensuring participants read all the information on a slide before clicking through to the next slide
- adding a voice-over to each slide that provides explanation of the slide
Why use PowerPoint to set up e-learning for your company/institution?
- Quick set-up PowerPoint is a programme we all know and use regularly. Existing presentations can be used to set up e-learning. An existing product presentation can be used as a basis on which to develop the further e-learning process. After all, it already contains the most important facets that have to be conveyed. With a few smart adjustments and additions to this presentation, we are several steps further along.
- Easy to adapt. Not only does PowerPoint offer advantages in setting up the e-learning, but for making content adjustments too PowerPoint is a simple programme. Simpler than editing complex videos.
- Controlled by questions The progress of the training can easily be monitored by adding a quiz or survey. A minimum score can be assigned to this before the participant can proceed to the next part.
- Graphic treatment Just as with a presentation, it is important that the e-learning slides are worked out strongly graphically. It ensures a better transfer of the information and the participants will remember the content better by means of the graphic elements. Icons, graphic elements and images can be added to the content to illustrate it as clearly as possible.
- Animations and transitions Through the right application of animations and slide transitions, the course is built up systematically and looks more attractive. As a result, the participant's attention stays higher and more engaged.
- Voice-over By editing a voice-over onto the slides, explanation is given to each slide.
Smartpresentations' approach to e-learning
As a PowerPoint expert, Smartpresentations is well placed to set up your e-learning modules too. We take the following steps to set this up quickly, clearly and structurally:
- Kick-off meeting During a kick-off meeting we discuss the objective and target group of the module. There is a transfer of information and we look at improving the story and use of language. In addition, a start for the script is gone through: theory, examples and questions.
- E-learning structure & Design proposal A structure is determined for the e-learning and, on the basis of the house style received, a design proposal is made for the various slides.
- Working out the complete e-learning module Once the content is sharp and the style has been determined, the complete module can be worked out. All the parts are put in their place, animations, transitions. Finally, the control questions are added to the training.
- First version and feedback The first version of the e-learning module is put on our online platform so that it can be tested extensively. The feedback is gathered via our online feedback platform (Filestage).
- Voice-over and finishing - only after the complete training has been finished is the voice-over recorded in a professional studio and edited onto the e-learning. Everything is tested and finished again.
- Delivery - The delivery consists, on the one hand, of a link to the online training and, on the other, of a link to download the participants' results. That way you always have a view of who has followed the training and what his/her results are on the control questions.
CASE: Safety training Vandenbogaerde Food Group
At the firm Vandenbogaerde Food Group, around 100 people work who have to follow an obligatory safety training every year. Because of the Corona measures, it was difficult this year to gather all 100 of these people in one hall for this training. In order to give them the obligatory training anyway and check the knowledge acquired, we set up an online e-learning module based on PowerPoint. This e-learning module is online and can therefore be consulted by employees at any time via PC, tablet or smartphone.
The complete training is split into four parts. Employees click through the training where each slide is provided with the necessary explanation by a voice-over. Each separate part is concluded with a test of three or four multiple-choice questions. By means of an export function, the company can keep track of and check precisely who has followed the training and passed the various tests.
