People remember stories better than facts. A good company story makes your brand recognisable, builds trust and connects you with your audience. Whether it is a keynote, a sales pitch or an internal presentation, a compelling story really does make the difference. But how exactly do you get started?
The start of every story begins with gathering all the necessary ingredients. To help you, we have developed the perfect guide: The Company Hand. It helps you to bundle, group and structure all the information. You can download the Company Hand here, completely free!
Let's dissect the Company Hand together. Because every finger or line has a specific question you need to answer.
- Thumb: what is your company good at? This is not only about your core business. Think beyond products and services. How do you do it? Fast response time, friendly drivers, extensive technical knowledge, …
- Fingerprint: what makes you unique? With the thumb you listed all your company's strengths, but your competitors may be strong in these too. Find where you make the difference.
- Index finger: which target groups do you focus on? Describe your target groups as precisely as possible. Size of the company, level of knowledge, ... Do not limit yourself to a sector. Dig deeper into the specific characteristics of the different target groups. For each target group, also describe who your points of contact are and where they differ in what matters to them.
- Middle finger: which problems do you solve? Problems can differ per target group. Describe the problems that have a direct link to your solution, which will come up later.
- Ring finger: what does your company stay true to? These can of course be the company's values. But dare to look further than that. What is important for the company and the people who work there?
- Little finger: what are the ambitions? People look with admiration at companies and people with ambition. Because who does not enjoy working with ambitious people and companies? Explore which course you want to steer with the company. How do you see the future? Be a visionary in your sector.
- Heart line: what is the company DNA? Determine the character of the company. Compare the company with the qualities you would use to describe your best friend. What makes him/her unique as a person? That has nothing to do with the year it was founded, the number of employees and other figures. It is about who the company is. Or try comparing the company to a car brand and a specific model. The further you go into it, the more specific the reasons for your choice.
- Head line: which goals do you want to achieve? Determine what you want to achieve with and for your customers. Think carefully about this, because it will broadly become the core message of your new presentation.
- Life line: which products or services do you offer? This is by far the easiest question. Note down here what your offering is. Make a distinction between your core business and supporting services.
Now you have all the ingredients for the company story. They form the perfect basis for an impactful presentation. A presentation whose audience understands and remembers your story.
