A pitch presentation is a very important presentation that you give to convince a potential client of your idea, product or services. Often you are in competition and your competitors will also give a presentation before or after you.
The most important objective in such a presentation is therefore: ensuring that your story, your presentation stays top-of-mind with the potential client. You do that by bringing a strong story in content and using a professional-looking presentation.
A few tips for a successful pitch presentation:
- The beginning of your presentation must be powerful and to-the-point. In a pitch presentation you have no time for long introductions. Feel free to get straight to the point. The beginning and end of your presentation will be best remembered. So you can begin with the problem statement or question that the potential client has put to you. With this you also show that you have understood the question well.
- At the beginning, immediately indicate how you are going to tackle / solve the problem or question. How is your idea, service or product going to help them? Be as concrete and direct in this as possible.
- Also immediately indicate what the steps in the process will be. How will the process proceed after you have received approval? Professionalism is the key message here.
- The company introduction itself mainly serves to give credibility to your solution and plan of approach. Here a nice slide with a graphic treatment of facts & figures can support you. The history and vision of the company complete this part.
- If a special team or specialists will work on the project, you can introduce them after the company introduction.
- You close with a summary: the key points of your argument and why they should choose you.
- The handout is not a printout of your presentation. Take care too over what you leave behind after your presentation. After all, it is an additional contact moment.
- If you have already had to submit a quotation beforehand, there is no point in putting it literally on the screen. Above all, bring up those elements that make your proposal unique.
A few general points of attention:
- Make sure you are well prepared.
- Speak calmly, stand up straight and talk clearly.
- Stick to the time you are given for the appointment.
- Also be sure to allow 1/3 of the available time to answer questions.
